„A Film of European Pupils”

excerpt from the final report (June 2010)

In October 2008, seven countries around Europe (Turkey, Italy, Norway, Spain, Lithuania, England and Romania) came together to explore ways in which children could learn about different cultures and traditions in a more practical way.

The movieTogether we chose to produce a documentary called „A Film of European Pupils” which would show the comparisons of children’s daily lives. Over the last two years the children have produced a film about a day in Europe which explores the differences and similarities in breakfasts; school time; playground games; traditional songs and dances, feasts and celebrations. In addition, teachers have been able to experience different cultures and ways of teaching and learning.

As well as producing a film, each school has exhibited a range of photos about daily life. We made a website to inform others about our experiences (www.afilmofeuropeanpupils.com) and formed a Facebook closed group in order for teachers to further communicate with each other.

The partnership has been well received and supported amongst the participating countries and in many cases we have been reported in the local press and television.

Project siteTogether with our Lithuanian partners at project meetings, we made the site of the project which provided the information about the our partnership, about the activities we were going to carry on and which we also fulfilled, and other information.

Children have developed the importance of learning English and discovered their artistic aspects, the project helped the children enrich their knowledge of English language and acquire more information about the participating countries.

During this project we have developed children´s awareness, creativity and understanding of languages and cultural differences.

The children were encouraged to work together (teamwork) in a pleasant and efficient way.

Our pupils have become friends with children in other countries, our project partners.

The teachers involved in this project were able to improve their English.
